Dependability and value for retailers Rugged hardware and
versatile software bundled in a low-cost terminal. Use standalone or as
part of a modular system. Features compatibility with off-the-shelf
options to take advantage of current technology and to provide you with
the best value.
SER-6540 RETAIL SYSTEM
The attractive, low profile design leads the list of features for
this easy-to-use terminal. An alpha-numeric display spells out items as
they are entered and assists operators with clear, understandable error
messages. The built-in high speed dot-matrix printer provides legible
receipts, sales journals and reports.
Large capacity PLU File PLUs are assigned for all the items
in your store to maintain individual sales data as a basis for
reordering and inventory control
With maximum memory, it is possible to assign approximately
14,500 PLUs. The actual number of PLUs available is determined by
the amount of optional memory installed, as well as the other memory
dependent features assigned to the terminal.
In multiple terminal systems, the PLU file is redundant in each
terminal. PLU file maintenance can easily be performed at any
terminal, which automatically updates all terminals in the system to
insure identical files and prices.
Food Stamp Control For convenience and food stores, the
SER-6540 offers a comprehensive routine to sort food stamp eligible
merchandise and correctly apply food stamp payments.
- Programmable food stamp status for each PLU.
- Automatic sales tax exemption for food stamp purchases.
- Food stamp in drawer accountability.

PC Polling and File Maintenance Optional PC/Poll software
includes PLU/file maintenance, and links to many inventory and
accounting software packages. With PC Poll software, you can:
- Poll directly or remotely via a modem
- Schedule polling for after hours.
- Consolidate information from all of your stores
- Program your terminal
- Export information in a variety of formats
Scale Interface You can automatically display and multiply
weights from an optional electronic scale. The scale connects to one
of the standard or optional RS-232C ports. Scale features include:
- The option to enforce scale entry for each PLU item
- 19 programmable tare weights plus manual entry of tare
- Programmable for enforced tare, inhibited tare, or management
control of the tare key.
Low Cost UPC Scanning For speed and accuracy, you can scan
rather than manually input PLU numbers. Liquor stores, C-stores, and
other small retailers can enhance their Samsung SER-6540 system by
connecting an optional scanner to one of the standard RS-232C ports.
Scanning features include:
- 14-digit PLU numbers
- 12 character PLU descriptors
- Alpha-numeric operator display.
- Optional polling software.

SYSTEM REPORTING
Reporting Features
- Report Levels
Two reporting levels (Z1 and Z2) are standard for
system reports. Typically Z1 and Z2 are used to provide daily and
periodic reports. Optionally, a third level of reporting (Z3) can be
added to provide, for example, daily and monthly, as well as
year-to-date reports. (Z3 reporting can require additional memory,
depending upon your system memory requirements and memory allocation.)
- Group Reports
PLUs can be reported to up to 99 group totals.
Groups can provide a quickly picture of sales and trends. An item's
sales can be reported to 3 different sales groups simultaneously. This
allows, for example, sales reporting by department, sub-department, and
vendor.
- String Reports
Through system options, the SER-6500 provides
considerable flexibility in customizing report contents. "String"
reports can be programmed to execute a series of reports. String reports
